Refund Policy

We want you to love your book. Below is a plain-English breakdown of every scenario and what we can do for you. For the fine print, see our Terms of Service.

Full refund — before you pay

Creating and writing your story is completely free. You only pay once you love the finished book and choose to have it printed. There is nothing to refund before that point.

Full refund — within 24 hours of payment (print not yet submitted)

If you change your mind within 24 hours of completing payment and your book has not yet been submitted to our print partner, we will issue a full refund, no questions asked. Email us at hello@makestorybooks.com with your order number.

Partial refund — print already submitted

Once your book file has been sent to our print partner for production we incur a non-refundable print cost. In this case we can refund the difference between what you paid and the direct print cost, typically 40–60% of the order total depending on book size. We will confirm the exact amount before processing.

No refund — order shipped

Once your book has been dispatched from the print facility we are unable to issue a refund, because the physical product has been produced and is in transit. If your book arrives damaged or is lost in transit, see the section below.

Damaged or lost in transit

If your book arrives damaged, email us a photo within 14 days of delivery and we will reprint and reship at no charge. If tracking shows your order as delivered but you have not received it, wait 3 business days (carrier delays are common), then contact us and we will investigate and, if confirmed lost, send a free replacement.

How to request a refund

Email hello@makestorybooks.com with your order number and the reason for your request. We aim to respond within one business day. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
